About Us

Church Production (Pty) Ltd, has its roots in a family operated retail music store, which was established in 1968; and many of the principles and values which were instilled on those formative years, are still deeply embedded in our DNA.

By the mid-eighties, Music Man had expanded its operations to include the full spectrum of musical instruments, and related equipment. The Company quickly became a well-respected business, with a reputation for integrity, honesty, knowledgeable staff, and an innovative approach to meeting the needs of its customer and client base.

We understood that whilst we sold musical instruments and related equipment; this was not our primary function and purpose - our core business was understanding people's needs and dreams, and then assisting and guiding them to achieve these.

Mark Gaffley joined his father in the business in 1986, and at this point started focusing and gearing the company towards the professional audio industry. As Music Man was already actively involved with many of South Africa's largest churches, the progression to supplying professional audio solutions to Houses of Worship was natural.

1997 - A presence in the Western Cape

In 1997, Music Man expanded its operations into Cape Town, and was awarded prestigious contracts such as Ratanga Junction, which was the first theme park in Africa, as well as numerous installations within the leisure market, (high profile Waterfront hotels and niche market boutique hotels, upmarket entertainment and music venues, etc.)

As time passed, the company focussed its resources and energy towards the increasingly expanding professional audio industry. Music Man soon gained a reputation of being a truly independent systems integrations company, with no personal interest in marketing specific brands, but rather providing cost effective solutions, drawn from a carefully selected range of industry leading products. The philosophy of offering clients

products and solutions from a vast range of professional brands, (as opposed to importing or distributing our own products), led to a great deal of consumer confidence, which fortified an already high level of trust within the market place.

From the onset, Music Man made a conscious decision concerning our market. Greater emphasis was placed on developing suitable and relevant relationships with key players. We identified specific products and distribution networks based on relevance to our market, as well as innovations. We committed to listening to, and understanding our clients' needs; which ensures that client's expectations are always well managed and met.

2007

In 2007, we made the decision to move out of the retail industry, and closed our retail footprint in Johannesburg. Our focus was entirely on the design, consultation, supply, and installation of all services and aspects of the production industry. The entire operations division was relocated to Cape Town, leaving behind a highly qualified service division to maintain and service existing clientele in the northern parts of the country.

By this time, Music Man's business was rapidly expanding throughout Africa, and churches and clients were contacting us as far north as the Ivory Coast. The decision which we had made many years prior to this

was yielding a return - understanding needs, supplying cost-effective solutions based on reliable, pro user products, supporting and servicing, becoming a part of the clients' operation – all added to the successful business model.

Whilst the Company was servicing the broad spectrum of our industry, we found that our market share in churches was growing dramatically. Our genuine commitment and understanding of church needs made our Company a preferred contractor and supplier to an extensive client base.

2010 & Onwards

Music Man continued to expand, and after moving to larger premises in Maitland, Cape Town in 2010, the need for a division that would solely service houses of worship was becoming more apparent.

Church Production (Pty) Ltd, (a sister company to Music Man), was established with the specific intention of servicing the demand for a truly independent, systems integrations company, which would focus its energy and commitment on houses of worship. Any, and all business decisions surrounding Church Production are designed to serve churches, and to play a key role in visioneering their purpose.

During the past 46 years, we have had the honour and privilege of working on many prestigious projects, and serving many of the continents largest ministries, and have forged seemingly endless partnerships with many satisfied clients throughout Africa. Our culture and ethos is one of honesty, integrity and a sincere desire to become an integral partner with clients. We favour the development of long-standing relationships with our clients, and firmly believe that it's in everyone's best interest to continue on a journey, as opposed to a short sprint; which is why you'll will find us there at 6 AM loading equipment with church volunteers - because we believe in our business, and we believe in empowering our clients.
